Does anyone have any experience with taking probiotics…?
I’m interested in trying probiotics after seeing an ad for Culturelle. I’m pretty sure I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, but I want to avoid going on a pharmaceutical medication for it. According to the ad for Culturelle and their website, it sounds like it could be helpful. Any thoughts?
Culturelle is great, and I’ve mainly recommended it for E. coli and the diarrhea induced colon bacterial infections. I’m sure it can help since it does help the colon and the colon is in the state of very painful spasms when your afflicted with IBS. I think that more than 1-3 caps 2-3 times a day may be the dosage, since IBS sufferers seem to have a need for much more beneficial bacteria. The usual dose of probiotics is 60+ billion a day. The Culturelle would be a great start.
I would also suggest Fennel seeds. Fennel relaxes the painful spasms and hyper-peristalsis in the colon. You could get the seeds anywhere and make a tea and perhaps even eat the seeds. They are minty tasting.
Also EFA’s like Fish oils, Evening Primrose oil and Coconut oil can be very soothing and anti-inflammatory in the gut.
Adding Fiber or taking 40+ grams of soluble and insoluble fiber daily may help after you get some relief to give the colon a constant volume of matter for the muscles that push and move things along, creating a smoother flow and less or no pain and healthier bowel movements.
Good luck
Clean out your colon & restore with healing probiotics
