My dog licks everything (carpet, the cats, me…) She’s now having serious hairball problems.?
PLEASE- knowledgable folks only. I have many yrs. personal & professional experience.
She’s old, going senile. Has some digestive issues- enzymes, probiotics, Pepcid ,steroids, good food being utilized. Removing the carpet is not an option.Bitter Apple does not faze her. I’ve never crated her- she freaks. She can’t live in a crate all the time, anyways. Any attempt at training (any method) is useless w/ a senile girl. I absolutely won’t keep her muzzled.
I’ve been keeping her “lubed” like a cat. She hacked & gagged all last week- finally brought up a hairball the size of a hot dog! My vet’s just as stumped as I am.
Any help out there? I’m at wits end!
This is a classic sign of frustration on your dogs part. There is something that is frustrating her in your home. Is there a new pet? New people? etc. Is she blind? and if so have you recently moved furniture around or renovated? If she is blind, do you trim her wiskers? What causes you to believe she is senile?
