how are probiotics good for you?
i had a probiotic yogurt and it made me sick. i was wondering how they are supposed to be good for you?
its something in yogurts. theyre adding more bacterias to them.
Sort of a play on words. As opposed to ANTI-biotics, which kills bacteria (good, beneficial e. coli in you gut as well as bad ones causign an infection somewhere), PRO-biotics replace and/or support the growth of beneficial bacteria. Probiotics are good for women who might get yeast infxns while on antibiotics for something else, or if you’ve been on so many antibx that you are too, uh, “liquid” when you go.
If you got sick from it, I wonder if it was old or not properly handled during transit and storage to the health food store.
